Hello! I'm Alisha Peterson of Mama Bird Lactation and I am a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in sunny Arizona. I graduated nursing school in 2010 and recently became an IBCLC in 2019. Before wanting to become an IBCLC, I worked in Labor and Delivery for 5 years in a local busy hospital. I met a lot of new mamas who struggled with that first latch. I knew I wanted more time with these mamas. Which is how it led me to wanting to becoming a lactation consultant.
I am a wife and mother of 3 little birds. All three have had different breastfeeding journeys. We've dealt with extended breastfeeding, tandem nursing, thrush, mastitis, lip and tongue tie, going back to work and maintaining supply while working night shift. I know how much work and time goes into breastfeeding and pumping. I also want other mamas to love it as much as I have. Even in those early months, where you are just trying to figure out this little human that’s depending on you. My approach is laid back and I want my clients to feel heard and supported. I want my clients to feel empowered and knowledgeable when I leave a visit. I believe "Support is Best". You, as the client, needs to feel like what you decide for your little baby is right for you. I will provide the information and create a personalized careplan for you and baby. You may have seen a lactation consultant in the hospital, but after delivery, you are often exhausted and overwhelmed with all that is going on. I will come to your house, where you can be comfortable and in your own environment. |

Meet Cherro
I added Cherro to my team in 2022. She was able to shadow me after moving from a birth center IBCLC role. And has been taking clients for the last 9 months.
She moved to AZ recently. She is a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
She has 2 girls and is pregnant with baby girl #3! Shes had a lot of personal experience with her own babies and made it so much easier to become an IBCLC.
She joined my team in February 2022 and I am glad to have her out there supporting more mamas!
